BRITISH POWER BOATS co 71ft-6inch MOTOR GUN BOAT
MGB 449 Builders:
British Powerboat Co. Hythe Southampton 1942
Our
new model for 2003 is the 71ft 6inch MGB in 1:24th scale. The GRP
hull is available from Dean’s Marine Tel 01733 244166, Plans from Model Boats
magazine, #MM 1377 (PLANS Dept) Tel 01322 660070 and HSL Mouldings will be producing a
fittings set along with a two-piece Vac-formed wheelhouse set. Size 35 .75 inch long x 10 inch beam
To keep you up to date with our new project, here is the latest. So far we have in place a motor, new prop shaft and rudder the latter two made by ourselves as part of the fittings list. The motor we have chosen is a single Graupner "600 ECO" rated between 7.2 to9.6 volt, we can safely say at 8.4volt with a 35mm standard 2 blade plastic prop it is more than happy at the speed she goes and the duration is good as well. The deck is in place sitting on its correct camber, a fair amount of time was spent on trimming the deck line to make it flat as to the drawings. All chine and rubbing strake rails were made up from plastic and glued on with contact adhesive, and filled as necessary. The new vac-forming for the wheelhouse will be in two parts, the largest of the two being the trunk/open bridge and the smaller the front section. The vac-formings are now available for the market release, £15.00+ £3.50 P+P. If you would like more help or information on this or any of the models on this web site please get in contact with us.
We will keep you informed on the build!
