Model
built by CJ Walters 2001
70ft MA/SB with twin Vickers
.500's and a 40mm Rolls Royce cannon.
The
photos below are of our new model under construction, the vac-formed wheelhouse is only
a pre-production sample and not
the correct top for the Motor Gun Boat we are building. A revised top will be
used to complete this model. Most of the fittings that will be used on this
model will be from our own range along with new items. The Vickers
.500 Machine Guns in the power turrets and 10ft clinker are available from Precision Controls
The
model is powered by 2 Electronize 543-23 motors with 3 blade plastic props running
on 9.6 volt 3000 mah Ni-cad battery pack. This gives a good scale speed and appearance, running time
is around 25 minuets on and off the plain. The prop shafts and
rudders have been made to fit from our HDML range of fittings, now available for
this model using a bearing post for each shaft .
For information and prices on
this hull and wheel
house see our page "PBM hulls".

Some
of the fitting used in these four photos are those made for the HDML and MA/SB, new
hatches have been made to suite this particular MGB, which are also suitable for
the 63ft MA/SB & A/SR.
We
have a set of fittings
available to complement the hull and wheelhouse package sold by POWERED BOAT MOULDINGS.
The
photos below are of our 70ft MGB using a production vac-form from Powered Boat
Mouldings along with new fittings and scratch built items, again some fittings
are made by Precision
Controls. We are fortunate enough to have
a set of
original British Power Boat co plans draw in 1941 to make this model from.
I
would like to that Cpt Trevor Robotham for his kind help with the plans.
Cpt Robotham along with a team are restoring a 70ft MGB #60 at Newsons
boat yard.

The
photos taken below show our MGB almost complete. All major paint work has be
completed and there are just a few small job to complete, such as a few more
deck hands, flags, life belts and the running number. The
solid colour on the side of the hull is as near to "WESTERN APPROACH
BLUE" as we could mix. It make a nice change to see a MGB in white rather
than the traditional battle ship grey.
This
is how MGB 59 and others in her class would have looked like in late 1941, early 1942.
